When Everything Feels Important (and Nothing Gets Done)
The ADHD brain doesn’t struggle with not caring. It struggles with caring about everything all at once.
One of the most frustrating ADHD traps is thinking,
“This is important… and so is this… and that… and that… oh no.”
You’re not lazy. You’re overloaded.
When everything matters equally, nothing gets done. But here’s the twist: your values are in there somewhere — buried under urgency, guilt, and maybe a half-eaten protein bar.
So how do you untangle the noise?
This is where I actually use ChatGPT as a priority filter.
Here’s a go-to prompt:
🧠 “These are the things I care about right now: [insert list]. Can you help me group them by values or themes so I can see what’s driving me?”
Sometimes I discover I’m chasing 5 things that all tie back to a core value like autonomy or security or connection.
Other times, I realize I’m doing stuff because I think I should.
That awareness helps me make better decisions — and quiet the urgency spiral.
💬 Have you ever used AI to figure out why you’re overwhelmed?
What came up for you when you tried listing it all out?
