My brain exploded last year.
Somehow, over the span of six months, I grew a second brain—or at least externalized it to the point that I became more than.
While I’ve been a journaler, a designer, a thinker, a tinkerer, and generally inclined to explore ideas for my whole life, it used to all go straight into a boring ol’ notebook, never to be considered again.
Nowadays, I’ve got a secondary filter to sanity-check my wilder ones—or inspire my milder ones.
In the past year, I’ve been using AI here and there for writing, brainstorming, and organizing. Somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn’t just using it. I was building systems around it. Systems that helped me do things I’d been struggling with for years.
When coupled with my ADHD monkey brain, I found AI could rein me back in and start to reduce the cognitive load that usually left me drained and dead by sundown.
While executive dysfunction still plagues me, and I sometimes get caught chasing shiny things, I now find that journaling into a chatbot can give me something amazing in return.
The neat thing about AI, time doesn’t pass for it. When I chase something shiny, my thought is frozen in time, and I can literally pick right up where I left off. Hey ChatGPT, what were we talking about yesterday?
Yeah, that works. You know what? “what was I working on in October 2024” does as well!
In the past year, my brain has moved from existing only in my head to also living in my browser.
This is a second brain I can get behind.
(Sorry, Tiago Forte.)
The best part? All of this is flexible—learning with me as I go. ADHD with AI puts me much closer to starting (and finishing) things than ever before.
And that is why this newsletter is here today…
To share how AI can actually help ADHD brains—not by replacing us, but by giving us tools that fit the way we work best.
This isn’t about “top 10 ChatGPT hacks.”
It’s about real use cases. It’s about workflows that flex with your energy. It’s about automating the boring stuff so you can focus on what matters.
Here’s what to expect:
🧠 Coaching Meets AI
Sometimes you’ll get prompts or journaling exercises built for ADHD brains. Other times, I’ll show you how to use AI to plan a day, reflect on goals, or gently nudge yourself back on track.
🧰 Practical Toolkits
I’ll break down how to use different AI tools—not just ChatGPT, but agents, custom GPTs, Notion AI, Cursor, and whatever else I’m exploring. Expect both free and paid paths wherever possible.
🧪 Build With Me
I’ll share walkthroughs for how I create AI-powered tools (and how you can too), whether it’s a journaling assistant, a prioritization bot, or something we haven’t thought of yet.
🌐 AI in the Wild
Expect posts exploring emerging AI tools, trends, and how they affect real-world workflows for creatives, solopreneurs, and anyone trying to finish what they start.
I see this space as more than a newsletter, it’s a knowledge base, sandbox, and support system for people who want to use AI to make their lives simpler and more manageable.
Especially if you have a brain that doesn’t love strict routines or linear thinking.
If that sounds like you, I’m glad you’re here.
Let’s build tools that support the way your brain actually works.
Hi Jody, came across your post and noticed we are going to the same goal
I'm building an AI Assistant for ADHDers, which helps you break down, prioritize, and remind tasks automatically. So would love to hear what you think at https://saner.ai/
