Try the AI Body Double Hack Today
Sometimes all you need is a little company — even if that company is a robot.
Let’s talk about body doubling — one of the most unexpectedly magical ADHD strategies.
If you’re unfamiliar: body doubling is the act of working alongside someone, often silently, which helps you stay engaged, focused, or at least started.
You’ve probably done it without realizing:
Sitting at a coffee shop with your laptop while someone reads a book
Being on a coworking call where everyone’s muted
Asking a friend, “Can we hop on Zoom while I clean my kitchen?”
Now here’s the twist:
AI can actually fill this role.
It’s weird. It’s a little awkward at first.
But it works.
🧪 Your Mini-Experiment:
Step 1: Pick something you’ve been avoiding.
Doesn’t matter what — email, cleaning, writing, admin stuff.
Step 2: Open ChatGPT and say something like:
“Hey, I’m struggling to get started on [insert task]. Can you keep me company while I do it and ask gentle check-in questions along the way?”
Step 3: Start the task — just a little.
Step 4: When you pause, tell it:
“Still here. Took a break. Ask me if I’m ready to do a little more.”
Let it gently nudge you. Respond like you would with a real person. You don’t need to be formal. Let it be messy. This is for you.
👀 What This Does:
It externalizes accountability
It creates a rhythm of check-in and progress
It reduces the emotional resistance of doing it alone
Bonus: You can ask it to give you praise at the end. Seriously.
“I just finished. Can you hype me up a little?”
You deserve to be celebrated.
🧠 Why It Works for ADHD:
Sometimes, the hardest part of any task is being alone with it.
AI gives you something to bounce off of — and when it’s interactive, non-judgmental, and always available? That’s a win.
This isn’t about replacing people. It’s about building momentum using what’s available.
💬 Try it today — for 10 minutes, 1 task, just to see how it feels.
Let me know what you used it for and whether it helped you push through.
